What are the eight limbs of yoga?  They are the source of the philosophy behind yoga.  Each limb relates to an aspect of achieving a healthy and fulfilling life with each limb building on the limb before it.

Join us for our workshop on December 12,2015 to explore a brief history of yoga and the core of yoga followed by at meditation practice enhanced by the use of essential oils.

Everyone experiences stress and anxiety most are not content living like this for extened periods of time, so we search for ways to alleviate it from our lives.  Since the 70’s researchers have been studying stress-reduction techniques for their effectiveness in treating anxiety and depression and yoga was often overlooked until recently.

A 2012 survey by Sports Marketing Surveys USA for the Yoga Journal indicated that 20.4 million people in the US, practice yoga.  According to the study the top five reasons for starting yoga were: flexibility (78.3 percent), general conditioning (62.2 percent), stress relief (59.6 percent), improve overall health (58.5 percent) and physical fitness (55.1 percent).

I cant tell you how many people I have talked to over the years who tell me ” I cant do Yoga, I tried it once and it was too hard”.

I then engage them with this; did you walk up to your teacher and introduce yourself and that you were new to the practice? Were you in a mixed level class or a higher lever class where the teacher offered modifications for you so the lesson or pose could be introduced at a pace for YOU? Moonlight Yoga in League City travels to the University of Houston

I want to thank the Bounce Program at University of Houston for asking me to teach a few yoga classes.  It was  a pleasure to be able to teach pre teen girls the basic Asanas, breathing and other techniques.  It reminded me of how it was to be that age, how it felt to get to know and be aware of our bodies and environment. They were so willing to learn and they told me how relaxed they felt afterword. These are the reasons I teach. It brings such joy. Namaste 🙂
